Student of the Month - Interview with Kristi

At Radiant Hot Yoga, we believe in celebrating the dedication, progress, and positivity of our community members. Each month, we shine a spotlight on a student who exemplifies the spirit of yoga through their practice, perseverance, and passion. Our Student of the Month section is a tribute to these inspiring individuals who not only embrace the physical challenges but also embody the mental and spiritual growth that yoga fosters. Join us as we honor their journeys, share their stories, and highlight their achievements both on and off the mat.

How has your yoga practice at Radiant Hot Yoga influenced your physical, mental, and emotional well-being?

Since staring my practice at RHY, I feel my mind – body connection is so much more balanced. I have come to rely deeply on my breath work and meditation from my practice in my day to day life. This practice keeps me calmer, clear-headed and happy. I have been practicing at RHY since the doors opened. I am stronger mentally and physically, and I always leave with that “yoga high.”

Do you have a particularly meaningful yoga pose or sequence? What personal significance does it hold for you?

The most significant yoga pose for me is standing forehead to knee. It is definitely the most challenging pose for me to do, but that’s why I love it. When I’m having a strong day, and I can get it just right, I know that my hard work is paying off. The posture is more about the mental focus and breath work for me, when everything is in sync, I can get into the posture deeper and hold it for a longer amount of time.

Can you share a memorable moment from a class at Radiant Hot Yoga that has stayed with you?

My most memorable moments at RHY were during the pandemic. I was fortunate enough to continue doing private and semi private sessions during that time. Not only was I able to dive deeper into my practice and breath work, but the time alone and more meaningful conversations and laughter with Darlene, Skyler and Savanna, as well as the other yogis was so special during that time. We all grew in our practices and deeper in our friendships.

How do you weave yoga into your daily life, and how has it impacted your personal and professional relationships?

I try to practice at least 4 days a week in the hot room, but I also try to work on my practice at home and daily by focusing on my breath work. I know in any situation, good or bad, if I focus on my breathing, I can remain calm. This has allowed me to focus more on daily tasks and be much more patient.

What advice would you offer to someone contemplating starting their yoga journey at Radiant Hot Yoga?

I would say to jump right in, it’s not easy at first, but if you can get out of your head and past the heat, it will be the most extraordinary practice in your life.

How has being a part of the Radiant Hot Yoga community touched your life beyond the mat?

The community of RHY is truly a family. There is always a smiling face and a friend when you walk in the door. I have met some of my closest friends at RHY, I am so grateful for the community that Darlene and the girls have created. You always feel welcomed and loved.

What elements of the Radiant Hot Yoga community do you find most enriching?

The most important element and the foundation of the RHY community is Love. You feel the Love when you walk through the doors. Kindness and Gratitude are always present as well. RHY is a loving second home for so many, and I am so lucky to be a part of the RHY community.
