What advice do you have for new students who want to try hot yoga?

How Radiant Hot Yoga changed my life... Interview with Juliet Morgan

When did you first start doing yoga?

“Sunday, Feb 16, 2014 (I remember the exact day and class because it changed my life – started coming regularly and haven’t looked back!)” – Juliet Morgan


How has yoga changed your life? (your mood, body, stress level, etc)

“I have been a marathon and ultra trail runner for 15 years and have done a ridiculous number of races (104 and still counting!) simply because I love being outdoors and enjoy a good challenge! Unfortunately the price I pay is having unbelievably tight hips, hamstrings and glutes and prior to Radiant, I had never taken a yoga class in my life.

The difference is remarkable both physically (my hips, shoulders, back, etc. are opening up making it easier to run) and mentally I leave each class with a clear mind because I can’t think of anything else during the class except trying to get from one pose/flow to another!

Any stress that I have when I walk into that room evaporates as soon as the heat is turned on and the music tuned up!” – Juliet Morgan

Why do you think everyone should try hot yoga?

“It offers such a variety of diverse benefits from the physical to the mental to the emotional and just getting through class leaves you with such an amazing feeling of accomplishment and sense that you have just done something so good for yourself that I can’t imagine anyone who’s day or life couldn’t be better with a couple of hot yoga classes each week (and yin yoga too!)” – Juliet Morgan

What makes Radiant Hot Yoga so special?

“Two words – the people. It truly is a community of amazing people – and that includes the staff, the instructors, the teachers in training, the students and the owner and her two beautiful daughters.

If you ever wanted to experience unconditional support, gratitude and pure joy, then all you have to do is walk through the front door of Radiant on any given day and you’ll quickly be surrounded by such an incredible level of energy, enthusiasm and positivity that it’ll make any hot yoga class seem like no sweat!” – Juliet Morgan

What advice do you have for new students who want to try hot yoga?

Just do it!

Don’t think about it, just show up and let the amazing staff and instructors at Radiant get you started. It’s mind over matter – if you make up your mind to do it, then the heat won’t matter and before you know it, you will have sailed through your first class and ready to come back for more!” – Juliet Morgan

What is your favorite posture and why?

“Eagle pose because it feels amazing to wrap your arms and legs around yourself (how often do you get to do that in everyday life!) and then when you squeeze, hold and release, you get this nice rush of blood flow throughout the body (and then you get to do it all over again on the other side!)” – Juliet Morgan

Meet one of Radiant Hot Yoga’s inspiring teachers, Erica S.

How long have you been practicing yoga?

“I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years!” – Erica S.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

“I have taught many different types of fitness classes for the last 25 years and my love and passion is Hot Yoga.

I enjoy it the most because I get to motivate and help my students get deeper within their postures and their practice. I love to give verbal and physical adjustments so the students can find the correct alignment within the postures.

Overall teaching at Radiant Hot Yoga has allowed me to truly express who I am as a teacher and that ultimately is the best gift. I get to express my personality and connect with so many wonderful students. I am very grateful to be a part of The Radiant Hot Yoga Family!” – Erica S.


What changes do you see in students who practice hot yoga regularly?

“I have been teaching at Radiant Hot Yoga for 9 months and I have have seen tremendous growth in so many of my students.

I always see the physical changes but more importantly I see the students more at peace when they make it to their mats on a regular day to day basis. I see the students who practice regularly have more energy and confidence. The healing that happens on the mat is therapeutic and empowering.” – Erica S.

What inspired you to teach?

“I was inspired to teach when I started practicing yoga twice a day. I did two 90 minute classes daily and I found it to be the best workout mentally and physically.

I was approached to start teaching and I knew it was something I had to do.” – Erica S.


What makes Radiant so radiant in your opinion?

“Radiant Hot Yoga is Radiant because the heat is 105 and humidity is 35% unlike many other yoga studios in the area. The heat is so important to open and heal the body.

I also love the Radiant sequence. The sequence of postures and flows is challenging for beginners to advanced. Each teacher is unique and inspiring.” – Erica S.

How has becoming a teacher changed your life?

“I have been teaching for so long that it is a huge part of my life. I love to share my knowledge and passion of yoga. Being a teacher is not a job it is a gift that I get to share daily.” – Erica S.

What advice do you have to students that are new to hot yoga?

“The best advice to new hot yoga students is to take a lot of breaks during class, hydrate well, and keep coming to your mat everyday.” – Erica S.
