What benefits were you hoping to receive from your yoga practice?
I had no expectations when I started practicing yoga on a regular basis. I have always been extremely active, and at times a bit on the extreme side with exercise. By the time I started yoga as my primary form of exercise, I had run two marathons, was into heavy weight lifting, and boxing.
When I began regular yoga practice, my body was ready for the “break”, and I was at a point where I needed the mind/body connection. I discovered that the “high” from yoga was much more calm, peaceful, and easier on the body. Exactly what I needed!” – Jenna
How has yoga and your practice exceeded your expectations?
Like mentioned, I’ve always been addicted to the “high” you get from a great work out. With yoga, I get the high, I feel more balanced, relaxed and connected. My thinking is much clearer after class, plus I get to hear all the positive affirmations the teacher says for an hour! Being reminded of how limitless and purposeful I am is defiantly an added bonus!” – Jenna
How has yoga benefitted you off the mat?
It always amazes me what three or four sun salutations and a down dog can do! Yoga has taught me that no matter how I am feeling at any given moment, I am able to stop and do some easy poses or take some very deep breaths, to balance my body. Breathing is such a simple yet profound act for the body. I know the routine so well, I can implement this any time of the day. I am very grateful for my yoga practice for this reason.” – Jenna
Do you notice a change in your physical, mental, emotional and or spiritual body from a regular yoga practice?
Truth be told, at one time, I exercised only to look good in a bathing suit, that’s just where my mind set was. The minute I changed my mind and intention to feel good versus look good, that is when my physical body changed. It was actually when I slowed down and started yoga is when I felt and looked (in my opinion) my best. I wasn’t trying so hard. Have you ever heard the phrase: “If you are trying hard, that is ego, if it is easy, that is spirit!”?
It took me a while to fully understand this, but yes, I do notice a physical change from a regular yoga practice. My spiritual lessons have come along the way. It’s a daily practice for mental and emotional balance, and yoga does help!” – Jenna
Have you tried other styles of yoga? What makes Radiant Hot Yoga your preferred place of practice?
Yes, I have tried Vinyasa, Hatha and Kundalini yoga. They all serve the body differently, and I like them all, but what I love about Radiant Hot Yoga is, that it gives me the challenging work-out that I crave, the heat feels amazing to my body and the routine with the same postures allows me to stop thinking so much and be in my body, which relaxes my mind!” – Jenna
