Jennie first started practicing hot yoga five years ago in Bellevue, Washington. In 2012, she moved to Orange County and began her freshman year at Chapman University. She is majoring in health science and minoring in nutrition.
At college, she tried countless hot yoga studios around the area, but did not connect with any of them. Finally, in 2014, Jennie stepped through the doors of Radiant Hot Yoga and everything changed. She felt an instant connection and knew Radiant would become her new yoga home away from home.
In 2015, Jennie completed her 200 Yoga Alliance certification through the spring teacher training program at Radiant. Throughout her life, Jennie has had a deep compassion for others and has wanted to help people. Through teaching yoga, she is able to help her students improve their physical and mental health. Jennie leads classes that challenge the physical body, while inspiring the mind and soul with words and messages that have a lastingemotional impact.
Yoga has changed Jennie’s life because on her mat she can let go of the stress of the outside world and focus on the peace of thepresent. “If you can control the breath, you can control the mind.” Through yoga she has learned to control her breath, and she practices the lessons and techniques she learns in yoga on and off of her mat. Yoga has taught Jennie to be present and aware and to accept things as they are without resisting or trying to change things over which she has no control.
Jennie’s yoga journey is just beginning. She plans on completingher 500-hour yoga therapy certification after she graduates Chapman in June 2016.
